My newest musical passion is Road to Escondido, a CD by JJ Cale and Eric Clapton. It won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues performance, but I got interested in it because I read Clapton's book. He talks about how he met JJ Cale and how much he respects him, and how this recording came about.
It's a mix of styles, straight up blues to mellow jazz. My favorite cut is "Hard to Thrill," mainly because it has some really nice piano and organ work, and its placement on the album serves as a sort of break from the country-flavored blues before it.
